Punjabi-Gurmukhi Keyboard based on AnmolLipi software (that controls typing of Unicode characters) is installed into your Windows XP/ Vista; one has to switch/toggle to the Punjabi keyboard input to be able to type Gurmukhi characters. The switching between the Gurmukhi & English typing input can also be achieved by pressing the Alt Shift keys on the keyboard or by selecting the input language through the task bar.

In Windows, first you have to enable the keyboard. See Internet /Google posts on enabling a keyboard for a second language.
Once done, you should have EN or PA ( English /Punjabi ) on the taskbar.
